Dry Gulch

Rollin and Vivian are doing the "Foothills Hiking Challenge!"
(One of my co-workers suggested this as a great activity for kids, I agreed with her)
The "Challenge" is:
5 foothills hikes between April and November, then you can pay for a special t-shirt.
Rolli and Vivian each have their own card with a map of all the hikes
and a check box next to each hike.
Last weekend we started the challenge with Dry Gulch.

Rolli on a wildlife watch from his favorite high point.

Vivian's preferred method of hiking.

I figure as long as the kids are out on the trail getting fresh air
they can still check this hike off...
whether it was on their own two feet or somebody else's.

Fossils!
There are always fossils to be found around Dry Gulch.

Rolli honing his archeologist skills.

Of course there is nothing better than climbing on a big pile of rocks!

My favorite hiking companions.
It won't be long and those little legs will be the ones actually leading our hikes.

Watching Bella run across the gully after a couple of marmots.

Vivian and Rollin.
The top of Dry Gulch!

Bella.
The top of Dry Gulch!
Since Bella is the true hiker amongst us
maybe she should be the one participating in the Challenge.

Rolli and Vivian each got to put a sticker on their cards for Dry Gulch!
