road trip (part two)

Montana or bust!!
Shout-out to Marshall for letting us use his 4runner!
We had it neatly packed with enough food to feed 100 people, weekend bags for 5 people, two playpens, two booster seats, a sleeping bag, and miscellaneous toys.  And there was still room for 3 adults and two babies!  One coffee stop and we were off at 0830 hours.
Ready!  Only 450 miles to go...
Grandpa Rollin in the driver's seat.  Hannah sandwiched in between Rolli and Vivian.
Grandma was our navigator/tour guide commentator.

Hey Grandpa!  Keep it between the lines!

Rolli managed to bring the truck along.
He made truck noises and turned the wheels for hours.

Poor Vivian.  She made it clear that she does not like riding in the car.
I wish I could have made her more comfortable.
(Saturday morning I found out she had another very mild ear infection.  I thought that with treatment she would calm down for the ride home.  Nope.  Ear ache or no, she doesn't like the car seat.)

Bribing Rolli with "made with real fruit" and lots of sugar snacks.
He isn't so sure about it.  In fact he chewed them up and spit them out.
Bribing Vivian with the same fruit snacks.
Didn't work with her either.

aaahh.  Vivian getting her chin scratched by Mr. Giraffe.
Such a sweet face... for now.

Rolli is just a dork!  He liked having someone sit in the back seat.

Grandpa Rollin sandwiched in between Rolli and Vivian.
The babies let it be known that they preferred to have Grandpa in the back seat with them instead of their Mommy.  Thanks a lot kids.

Almost there!  One last stretch-our-legs-break.
(somewhere in Montana)

We finally made it to our hotel in Hamilton by 1630 hours Montana time.

  1. What great pictures! Maddy was a lot like Vivian when it came to car seats. Once I was able to turn her around it was a total different story! You sure packed a lot into the 4-runner! I hope you enjoyed your time in Montana!
